We designed a web application that allows the user to keep track of his or her weekly goals concerning their food intake and physical activity. Our application gives the ability for a user to allow an external supporter that can access their progress. Each page of the application allows the user to control what he or she wants the supporter to view. The pages within our app include a user profile page, a meal log, an activity log, a goals log, a body info log, a supporter register tab, a permissions tab, and a resource page. Each of these contributes to the overall function of the application and makes the user experience as simplified and straightforward as possible. Once a user profile has been created the information will be stored permanently in an online database that is easily accessible for the UGA Public Health Center to analyze and give feedback on. Coaches hired within a workplace will meet one-on-one with users and provide instructional nutritional feedback for the user to implement into their daily routine. These feedback suggestions will help the user alter his or her own food and fitness activity so that successful health changes can be made.
Here is the home screen for our app. To login, tap “user” if you are a user of the program, or “supporter” if you are the supporter for the user.
Once you tap “Not a User? Register Here,” you will be sent to this screen. You will create a username and password and tap submit. Once you do that, you will tap the link that will allow you to login with the account information you just created.
Once you login, you will be sent to this screen. As a user, be sure to enter your username and password. If you are a supporter, you will do the same; enter your username and password once you know your user has registered you as a supporter. Your user will register you in the Register Supporter tab on their user profile.
After logging in as a user, you will be sent to this screen. Here are the different tabs that the user will have access too. Also, note that at the bot- tom of the user screen’s view, he or she will have the ability to set privacy settings onto certain tabs so that the user can monitor what he or she allows the supporter to view.
Another important tool that we include within our app are tips that pop up by tapping the “i” icon in the upper right-hand corner.
By tapping on the info tab of the user view, you will be sent to this screen. As you can see, the white boxes enable the user to enter his or her data that will be stored to their profile. Once you enter in the data, there is a BMI calculator at the second half of the “info” screen, which will allow the user to calculate his or her BMI. The BMI calculator info is for the user’s use. This BMI data is not submitted to the database and cannot be viewed by the supporter. It is simply a helpful tool for the user.
By tapping on the goals tab of the user view, the user will be able to put in goals. These goals will remain tracked throughout the program. Simply enter a goal such as “lose 5 pounds” and then tap submit and your goal will be sent to the “my goals” section of this page.
By tapping on the activity tab of the user view, the user will be able to log his or her data of their daily physical activity. After tapping submit, the physical activity that the user entered into the white boxes will be sent through to the online database.
By tapping on the food log tab of the user view, the user will be able to log his or her data of their daily food intake. After tapping submit, the food that the user entered into the white boxes will be sent through to the online database. Based on the type of food eaten through the day, the program will make sug- gestions such as that food was “too extreme for the day.”
By clicking on the permissions tab, the user will be able to set what he or she wants the supporter to view and then can also have the option of updating these permissions later on.
After logging in as a supporter, you will be sent to this screen. The difference between the supporter profile versus the user profile is that the supporter does not have the privacy settings tab or resources tab, however the supporter profile does have a rec- ipes section. The recipe section enables the supporter to view ideas for healthy and simple recipes.
Here is the recipes tab of our app for the supporter view. Once the user taps on the “recipes” tab, there are listed ideas for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks!
